About Us

Temporal is an open source programming model that can simplify code, make applications more reliable, and help developers focus on the important things like delivering features faster. We are on a mission to be the reliable foundation of every developer’s toolbox, and are building the team that will make that happen.

Our values guide us —they are present in how we show up, make decisions, and work together to make an impact. We’re curious, driven, collaborative, genuine and humble.

Temporal is growing and we are looking for those who share our values, challenge 'standard' thinking, and want to influence our future. If you have a passion for improving the developer experience, building world-class open-source software and communities, and want to be a part of our amazing team, we'd love to hear from you!

About the Role

As a Commercial Counsel on Temporal’s Legal team, you'll work on a diverse mix of customer, procurement, and other commercial contracts while serving as a trusted legal partner to cross-functional teams. You'll build and maintain direct relationships with key stakeholders and have the opportunity to help build a scalable legal function, directly impacting the company.

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Legal, you’ll help build and maintain our commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and processes to support Temporal's current and next stage of growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Support our commercial contracting efforts for both the sell-side and buy-side by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements such as MSAs, DPAs, NDAs, and vendor agreements.

  • Partner closely with Sales and our GTM teams as a trusted advisor, providing clear, solution-oriented legal guidance that helps accelerate business objectives.

  • Support partner and reseller-related agreements, including reseller or channel relationships, marketplace arrangements, and strategic collaborations.

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of contract templates, negotiation guidelines, and scalable contracting processes.

  • Identify and escalate legal risks appropriately while supporting business momentum.

What You’ll Bring

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the U.S.

  • 5+ years of legal experience, with a minimum of 4 years in-house experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS company.

  • Strong track record drafting and negotiating vendor, procurement, and technology agreements, with a solid understanding of common commercial deal structures, including SaaS subscriptions, professional services, data processing terms, and SLA frameworks.

  • Experience with contracts management systems (Ironclad preferred) and AI-powered contract tools.

  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a drive to solve emerging challenges in an evolving environment.

  • Passion for tackling complex challenges on a small Legal team and willingness to wear multiple hats.

  • Privacy experience is a plus.
