The world’s largest AI labs and AI-native companies build on Temporal. So do the enterprises rolling agentic systems into production at scale. Today, we’re doubling down on that foundation.
I’m announcing a deeper investment in AI, and the talent additions that will help lead it. The founding teams from Chkk and Adviser Labs are joining Temporal. Chkk’s founder Awais Nemat will lead the engineering organization at the heart of this work, with Ali Khayam, David Hyde and the Adviser Labs team joining alongside him. Together they bring deep distributed systems experience operating core services at AWS scale, fundamental AI research from the Stanford AI Lab, and years of building production systems on Temporal.
The reliability bar keeps rising#
Durable Execution is foundational for modern AI. The longer agents run and the more they coordinate, the less forgiving the system gets — and the more durability matters. That’s the bar we have to keep meeting: solving reliability problems that developer teams hit, and evolving alongside a stack that’s moving fast.
Why these teams, and why now#
We didn’t go looking for people who could learn distributed systems infrastructure. We went looking for people who had already operated it at scale, and who had chosen to build on Temporal long before we were ever in conversation.
The team from Chkk built their entire platform on Temporal from day one. They are ex-AWS operators who helped launch planet-scale, tier-0 cloud services, and they’ve shipped production-grade AI agents inside some of the world’s largest enterprises. They know how to engineer reliability at scale because they’ve had to.
The team from Adviser Labs previously led fundamental research at the Stanford AI Lab. They built tooling that makes it dramatically easier for developers to run software workloads in the cloud, with innovations in AI-powered cloud orchestration and multi-cloud technology at its core. They also bring years of cloud-platform engineering from Confluent and deep AI ecosystem integration.
These are people who have already helped build successful companies, and who chose to come to Temporal to do it again with us.
When engineers with this background choose to build on Temporal before we hire them, that’s a signal about where the industry is headed.
A focused organization for a focused investment#
We are focusing this organization across the following initiatives:
-
Winning agentic AI use cases across AI-native, digital-native, and enterprise customers; partnering closely with our GTM teams and helping to deepen our current AI product offering
-
AI-powered developer experiences and coding tools that make building with Temporal faster
-
Temporal Nexus as the foundation for tool calling and the agent communication fabric
-
Partnerships that lower the barrier to building and deploying agents on Temporal, including integrations with OpenAI, Google ADK, Vercel, and Braintrust
-
Internal-use agents that accelerate our own journey toward becoming an AI-native company, creating a tight feedback loop between what we build and how we use it
Across these areas, engineering is leading the build, and our go-to-market teams are working alongside it to make sure customers get the full benefit of these capabilities as they ship.
See you at Replay#
We’re hosting Replay next week, with an amazing lineup featuring multiple talks focusing on AI. Come join us to learn more — I hope to see you there.
